On 6th February in Waitangi, the Waitangi Iwi Bowl was held.

Ngati Hine Trust’s KC Maaka says that the day was awesome, there was good whakawhanaungatanga and everyone enjoyed playing for fun.

KC also explained that “There were 4 teams who competed, 2 from Ngati Hine and 2 from Tuwharetoa.”

“The teams were made up of mixed gender and ages from 12 to 45.  Tuwharetoa came specifically to play as they left straight after it finished and had a 7 hour drive ahead.  Mean that they came and a big mihi especially to Roera Hartley for bringing them through, he has a passion and drive for Kiorahi and will carry the baton into the future.”

“We will look to manaaki them next year so they get to enjoy Waitangi day festivities.  The final game was a battle with Tuwharetoa taking the win, awesome day for those involved and looking to continuing the momentum this year for the kaupapa.”

Mean work from the Tuwharetoa crew, always out and about supporting the growth of Ki o Rahi around the country and growing their love for the game within their crew.
