2019 Junior Regional Ki o Rahi Tournament

Sir Barry Curtis Park in Flatbush, Auckland was home to the 2019 Auckland Secondary School’s Junior Ki o Rahi regional tournament.

10 teams entered the tournament on Thursday 28th November 2019, Botany Downs 1 and 2, St Dominic’s, Rutherford, Westlake Boys and Girls, Te Kura Maori o Nga Tapuwae, Nga Puna o Waiorea, Southern Cross, Papakura High and Alfriston College.

Teams were split across two pools with teams all getting to play 4 games each and the top two teams from each pool moving in to semi’s and finals.

The top 2 teams from each pool were Te Kura Maori o Nga Tapuwae and Botany Downs as well as Southern Cross Campus and Nga Puna o Waiorea.

In the semi finals Nga Puna o Waiorea met with Te Kura Maori o Nga Tapuwae and Southern Cross Campus faced off with Botany Downs.

Te Kura Maori o Nga Tapuwae beat Waiorea 29 - 10 and Botany Downs beat Southern Cross 19 - 17 - meaning that Nga Tapuwae would face Botany in the final after earlier drawing 14 all in their pool game!

Nga Tapuwae beat Botany 25 - 9 to be crowned Junior champions for 2019!
