Kī o Rahi Videos on Youtube
It’s been a mission of ours for a while to have more footage of Kī o Rahi on Youtube.
We head there ourselves all the time looking for sports content. We have thrashed the current Kī o Rahi videos that are already on the platform.
We’re happy to let you know that we’ve now added a few videos from the Tūwharetoa Kī o Rahi Open held in January this year.
Two of the videos are quarters from a semifinal game, to be fair the game was played with a very relaxed vibe as one team was a pretty social team. However, the game is a good one for newcomers to Kī o Rahi as we have added a few features to help people to understand the game a bit easier.
First you will see our scoreboard:
The circle in the scoreboard represents the field of Kī o Rahi. Inside the circle are the hosts’ they are the group of people making the game and tournament possible.
Each koru reaches out to each team and where they are from, these connect to the field and the hosts’ as without them all, the game could not be played.
The team name is on each koru, their colour represents the tags each team wears. As you can see below:
Added to the scoreboard, is a timer and scores which update as the game happens. There is also the name of the quarter that is being played. Hauwha 1 = quarter 1, hauwha 2 = quarter 2 etc.
You will also see tohu (signs) in the top right corner which shows you the call made by the kaiwawao or referee, so you can start to understand and follow along with the game. Here is an example:
Above that tohu, red pou (posts) will appear to signify how many pou have been touched by the kīoma team.
Our final video is our extended highlights from the tournament, we think that it shows how awesome Kī o Rahi is, so feel free to share this with your friends!
