Results - 2020 Wellington Senior Secondary School Regionals
The 2020 Wellington Senior Secondary School Kī o Rahi Regionals took place at Naenae College.
The Wellington Regionals have boasted a number of different grades and 2020 was no different, with a senior boys, girls as well as the foremost grade - senior mixed.
9 girls teams entered: St Mary’s College, Wellington East Girls College, Samuel Marsden Collegiate School, Mana College, Sacred Heart College, Wellington Girls College, St Mary’s College 2, Wellington East Girls College 2, Naenae College.
With the very strong St Mary’s teams dominating, their 1 and 2 team made the finals and the score being: St Mary’s 1 v St Mary’s 2 - 18 - 7
10 teams played off in the Senior Boys grade - Raphael House Rudolf Steiner School, Naenae College, Mana College Green, St Bernard’s College, Wellington College, Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Ara Whanui, Mana College Gold, Naenae College 2, Wellington College 2, Wainuiomata High School
Mana Gold finished champions of the Senior Boys grade after beating Naenae College 1 by 37 points to 17
Wellington’s Senior Mixed comprised of 10 teams from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna, Mana College, Naenae College, Taita College, Hutt Valley High School, Aotea College, Taita Tumeke, Hutt Valley High School 2, Tawa College, Wellington College/Wellington Girls
The champions were the very consistent Mana College who overcame Tawa College by 16 points to 2 in the Senior Mixed Final!
Just looking at the results from the tournament and knowing four teams from each regionals qualify for the 2021 Nationals - we can say a congratulations to: Mana College, Tawa College, Te Kura o Ngā Mokopuna and Taita College.
