Results - 2022 Tūwharetoa Open Kī o Rahi Tournament

The first Kī o Rahi tournament (that we know of) for 2022, took place in beautiful Tūrangi on Saturday 22nd January.

In speaking with organiser Roera Hartley, the tournament was meant to be held in Dannevirke with a couple of teams from the Wellington region also going to head up.

Tūwharetoa and Dannevirke have been having regular games and are hoping to get more adults competitions established because there are many people in this age bracket wanting more Kī o Rahi.

After the Dannevirke team became busy for the weekend, Roera decided to host a tournament in Tūrangi instead. 4 teams from the local region were involved, 3 from Tūrangi and 1 from Taumarunui, whilst a secondary school team from Te Kura Matua o Wainuiomata made up the 5th team.

Roera says ”The tournament was mainly about whānaungatanga and it was awesome to see Matauranga and the crew from Wainuiomata and Turoa and the crew from Taumarunui come and attend the tournament.” “Big shout out to Kīorahi.com for coming down to take some awesome pics as well. Looking forward to what Kīorahi has to offer in 2022!”

A big thank you to Roera and all his crew in Tūrangi for their passion for the game and all that they do to bring people together. Big things will happen off their back of their love.
